What is a Septic Tank?

plumbing services kitchen and bathMost people never have to think twice about where the waste water from their home goes. They turn off the water, drain the sink or flush the toilet without a second thought.

That’s not the case for everyone though. For people who live in rural or remote areas they may have to deal with a septic tank.

It is part of a septic system which is a self-contained that holds all of the waste material from a home.

The tank that is used in a septic system is very large and can reach nine feet in length. It is contained underground and can normally last several years without any difficulties at all.

When waste water flows into the septic tank it is separated. If you drain your dishwater it will flow into the tank and the suds will usually float to the top. The same thing happens when you use the dishwasher and washing machine.

There is a difference after you’ve used the washroom. Solid waste collects in the bottom of the septic tank. As the solids build up they will decompose on their own over time. However, those solids will eventually transform into a thick film at the bottom of the septic tank.

Eventually you will have to have the septic tank pumped out. This is part of owning a property that has this type of drainage system. There are many companies that specialize in this and will come to your property and take care of it for you.  Carl B. Seeds understands you have many choices in Septic Service Companies, and we appreciate those who choose us for all their septic services.  We want to show you why we’re the right choice. We’re very experienced in how to properly pump the tank without any health concerns.

For the most part you won’t notice any difference when you have a tank as opposed to a traditional drainage system. As long as you have it pumped at regular intervals and call a plumber in the event of any difficulties, youíll have few problems.
