WSSC
The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is a nonprofit organization that provides safe drinking water and wastewater treatment for many of the cities in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland. The WSSC has partnered with agencies such as Restaurant Services of MD in order to help restaurants learn the proper way to dispose of food, oils and grease properly. The goal is to help the food industry understand the safest ways to dispose of these items so they don’t accumulate in sewer pipes causing blockages, overflowing manholes and basement blockages.
